AMAN Network for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence & Torture in the Middle East & North Africa has received -with deep concern- information about the police assault on the doctors of El-Nadim Centre inside the Court of Kafr al-Douwwar on 30/04/2008. According to preliminary information, Dr. Magda Adly suffers a wound in her forehead and a deposition in her shoulder. We knew also that Dr. Mona Hamed's car was also shattered and her bag was stolen.
The attack on El-Nadim Centre and its doctors is a horrible violation of human rights and an official terrorism against the activists to end torture in Egypt.
Aman Network, as it strongly condemns the criminal attack on the doctors of El-Nadim Centre, it calls on the Egyptian authorities to investigate the incident and punish the perpetrators. It also calls for the widest solidarity campaign from all the bodies of the civil society in Egypt, the Arab countries and the world, as well as to send statements of protest and condemnation to the embassies of Egypt, the United Nations and the European Parliament.
The Network calls the World Health Organization to denounce the attack on the doctors of El-Nadim Centre because it is an assault on the medical body and a violation of the doctors' immunity.
